Yvonne was an artist to her core. She painted the most beautiful paintings, many of other humans or animals ~ and never sold them as she viewed them as her babies - I loved hearing this at the funeral. She was a teacher, always learning & passing on that learning even when she lost her hearing & later her speech. She loved her family & friends, gardening, theatre, music, dance, foreign language films, horses & cats. She began to teach me BSL and inspired me to find new ways to communicate, through expression and imagination.
I had wondered if I really knew her as I’d only known her after her initial dementia diagnosis. I did. Her soul shone throughout. Even when her dementia induced behaviour betrayed her.
Thank you Yvonne for teaching me that I love to learn, that I have more patience than I give myself credit for, and that I have the ability to pivot my life & art in many ways to keep living to my creative fullest. Thank you for your hugs, your teachings and your smiles. The delicious scents you wore. For introducing me to your home and cats. For letting me read and help you with your biography. You truly danced until the end of love & inspire all those who knew you to do the same. I miss you. ❤️
